Association Independente des Droits Humains
A non-governmental organization established in France, continuing years of dedicated work on human rights and justice issues in Libya. It monitors and documents human rights violations, advocates for victims, and refers their cases to national and international judicial mechanisms to promote accountability and justice and to combat impunity.

We work to uphold the principles of human rights, monitor and document violations, and raise public awareness about respecting, promoting, and protecting human rights.

The vision of the Independent Human Rights Association is a world in which all people enjoy all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments.

Accuracy and Objectivity
“Al-Mustaqilla” is committed to upholding the highest standards of investigation and research to provide accurate and objective accounts and data on human rights violations.
Inclusiveness and Non-Discrimination
“Al-Mustaqilla” believes that human rights are universal and must be available to everyone, without exception or discrimination based on race, color, gender, language, religion, opinion, or any other grounds.
Independence and Neutrality
- To preserve its independence, “Al-Mustaqilla” avoids any activity that may create a conflict with its mission to protect and promote human rights.
- Al Mustakillah (The Independent) does not support any political party and does not operate as a political tool for individuals or groups, either internally or externally. Furthermore, it operates independently of governments and possesses its own specific implementation programs and policies.
Integrity.
- The “Al-Mustaqilla” organization cannot place itself under any financial or moral obligation to any entity or organization that could affect its work or create the perception of influence over its performance.
- As a non-profit organization, Al-Mustaqilla does not engage in any commercial projects whose details conflict with its stated objectives.
Transparency and accountability
- “Al-Mustaqilla” adopts a responsible, clear, and transparent policy regarding its mission, objectives, and the principles guiding its work toward the public—whether they are victims, violators, partners, or supporting entities.
- “Al-Mustaqilla” follows the principle of clarity and honesty regarding the potential impacts of its work on the victims and witnesses of the violations it addresses.
- Al-Mustaqilla is committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, accountability, governance, and good management in its administrative and financial systems, decision-making processes, work methodology, and funding.
- “Al-Mustaqilla” is committed to the principle of legal and ethical accountability in all its internal and external dealings, in accordance with specific mechanisms outlined in its internal regulations.
